Making a Story with Animation
Making a story using animation helps the students to learn many functions of the computer. We used the software called "Hyper Cube" and "Cube Projector" for the activity.
Four students made a group and developed the story cooperatively. First, they discussed the theme of the story related to their school life. Then they discussed the outline of the story and drew some pictures on paper. Each student drew the pictures using the computer. They cooperatively programmed exactly how long each picture to be showed in order to develop the animation screens. They also edited their products over and over in accordance with their discussion.
Although the objective of the activity was to be familiar with using the computer, the students not only learned the use of the computer but also developed logical thinking and cooperative skills during the activity.

Pédagogie, pedagogy : The computer animation activity involves a great deal of work for the students. The students learn not only the use of the computers but also the meaning of information. For example, the students realize that not only does each picture have important information, but also computer animation which use several pictures can create new information using each independent bit of information in each picture.
Apprentissage, learning : Making a story using animation helps the students to learn many functions of the computer. Since the activity itself is very enjoyable, the students are motivated to learn new things. The students develop their logical thinking during the editing process of the activity.
Enseignement, teaching : The teacher taught the students some basic skills necessary for making a story. However, he gave little advice when the students edited their pictures. Therefore, the students tried to think logically in order to make some animation.
Technique : We used the software called "Hyper Cube" and "Cube Projector" on PC type computers. The teacher needed to teach only basic functions of the use of the software.
Société, society : Four students made a group to develop a story. They discussed some plans and worked cooperatively. If they had any problems with the computer, they could help each other.
Institution : We used the computer lab for the activity. The teacher was readily available for the students' questions.
Remarques, remarks : Although the objective of the activity was to be familiar with using the computer, the students not only learned computer use but also developed their logical thinking and cooperative skills.
